The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology poses significant challenges and opportunities for intellectual property, particularly concerning authors’ rights. This presentation explores two critical dimensions: the use of copyrighted works by AI systems and the legal status of AI-generated content.
Firstly, the speech will address scenarios where AI algorithms utilize existing copyrighted material, examining the implications for original creators and the potential legal frameworks that could safeguard their intellectual property. Strategies for authors to proactively protect their rights in the age of AI will be considered, providing practical guidance on navigating this evolving landscape.
Secondly, the focus will shift to the contentious issue of copyrightability of AI-generated works. With current legislation in many jurisdictions not recognizing these works as protectable, we will delve into the ramifications for third-party use of AI-generated creative outputs. This will also explore the potential for partial protection mechanisms and the future of copyright law in accommodating AI innovations.
The conclusions aim to offer a comprehensive overview of if and how creators can safeguard their rights amidst AI advancements and the evolving legal protections for AI-generated content.

Writing in the age of AI: Dita has been experimenting with neural networks since 2019, especially in the field of creative writing. AI is also an interactive “mirror” for her, and its sensitivity to initial conditions, deterministically chaotic behavior, and inhumanly precise language work fascinate Dita. In her talk, she will briefly describe her projects Digital Philosopher (2019) and Digital Writer (2020-21), on which she collaborated with Honza Tyl, and in more detail her book ANIMAL, which was published this spring and is the first Czech “co-written” book – it is written with AI and AI in its unexpected forms is also its subject.
Mgr. Dita Malečková, Ph.D., studied Philosophy and Information Science at Charles University in Prague. For more than ten years she lectured at the Department of New Media Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and now teaches at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Her interest lies in the intersection of philosophy, media theory, imagination and art. Since 2019 she has been working on generative systems, co-created the projects Digital Philosopher (2019) and Digital Writer (2020-21) and in 2024 published the first Czech co-authored book entitled ANIMAL.

“AI is taking our jobs!” Blah, blah, blah… You’ve heard that too many times… How about “AI destroys creativity”? I’m sure you heard that one too… “AI saves me a lot of time. And time is money.” Oh, so that’s nothing new either? Well, that’s what it’s all about. Don’t expect me to tell you some ultimate secret that will solve all your problems. But let me give you a behind-the-scenes look at how one creative person works with AI. I’ll show you the tools that I use myself, and that AI can do wonders for. And in the end, we might even evaluate whether there’s any truth to all those statements.
Daniel describes himself as a “media maker”. He offers a wide range of creative activities under his brand White Whale Media. He photographs, shoots, edits, composes music, animates, graphic design… Most often he shoots video real estate shows, unboxings for an unnamed eshop, various reports, he mainly shoots sports, but not only sports. Lately he has been doing graphics for Finnish conference Scan Agile and almost everything for geeky community GUG.cz.
Bára Karpíšková will present how artificial intelligence can be used to improve children’s filmmaking without losing the charm of hand-crafted props, environments and characters. In her workshop with children, she starts traditionally – with paper, scissors, glue and a large dose of children’s imagination. Stop motion films, photo stories and scenes are created and then fine-tuned with the help of AI. Bára will show you how these technologies can push the quality and visual appeal of the resulting film, while still respecting the original child’s creativity. The paper will look at what the situation was a year ago and what the possibilities are today, and offer inspiration for those who want to enhance their work with a small touch of technology.
Bára Karpíšková is the leader of one of the first AI clubs in the Czech Republic, where she discovers AI, tries out new AI programs for editing videos and photos, and looks for ways to use AI with children in art and animation. She works with AI dětem, where she trains teachers and students on how to use AI in schools in a meaningful way. She creates educational materials for schools and children as part of the AI Curriculum for the Czech Republic. She is a lifelong educator who enthusiastically follows and integrates interesting innovations into teaching.
AI is everywhere, everyone is talking about it, companies are implementing it and everyone is using it. But is it really all that rosy? How many times have you yourself used it in client work in the last year? And has the result been satisfactory? Unfortunately, AI still has a number of weak points. In simpler and rather routine work it can usually be used very well, but once a more complex task/problem comes up, AI can prove to be useless. And where it falls short, good old human work comes in again. With the help of a few examples, we’ll take a closer look at just these weaknesses together.
